Length of Employment: Summer 2022 with possible continuation into the 2022 Academic Year
Work-Schedule: Schedule will vary based on the students’ availability and needs of the Supervisor.
The Free Library of Philadelphia’s Languages and Learning Center is searching for a work study student to serve as a virtual program assistant. We are seeking a kind, organized, and responsible undergraduate student who is interested in supporting adult learners in Philadelphia through assisting volunteer facilitators who lead group language learning circles. This summer, all programs will continue to take place virtually. The responsibilities and duties listed below will be completed through phone and video calls, emails, and texting and not require any in-person meetings
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide assistance to volunteer facilitators of language learning circles. This includes;
- Hosting adult education virtual programs through the Languages and Learning Center’s Zoom account (starting session, ending session, monitoring session, providing light technical assistance if problems arise)
- Participating in English language learning groups to promote English conversation and provide participants with additional practice conversing with a native/fluent English speaker
- Collaborating with volunteer facilitators on how best to support adult learners participating in the language learning circles
- Create promotional materials and use social media to increase awareness of the library’s language learning and adult education programs.
- Track data and progress of participants and report weekly progress to program manager
QUALIFICATIONS

Students who accept positions with the Free Library Off Campus Work Study Program will be required to complete the PA State Child Abuse Clearances in order to be permitted to work. There is no cost to the student for the completion of these clearances and instructions will be provided by the coordinator.
The City of Philadelphia requires that all employees who have not received the COVID 19 vaccinations will be required to double mask when working in any Free Library location.
