Entry Year Programs

Overview of Entry Year Programs

Temple University offers three entry-year programs - Japan, Rome, and Japan to Rome. These programs permit you to complete your first year at our Japan or Rome campuses, then complete the remainder of your degree program at either Philadelphia, USA or Rome, Italy. Students participating in one of these programs gain a global university experience while studying at an American university.

Temple Rome Entry Year

Students attending the Temple Rome Entry Year (TREY) program complete their first year at our Rome, Italy campus, then transfer to Main Campus in Philadelphia. If you are attending the TREY program, you are eligible to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to receive federal need-based aid. For merit scholarship considerations, please contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. As a TREY program admit, you are eligible to participate in the Fly in 4 program. You are expected to adhere to the same policies as students attending Main Campus.

Temple Japan Entry Year

Students attending the Temple Japan Entry Year (TJEY) program complete their first year at our Kyoto, Japan campus, then transfer to Main Campus in Philadelphia. If you are attending the TJEY program, you are eligible to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to receive federal need-based aid. For merit scholarship considerations, please contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. As a TREY program admit, you are eligible to participate in the Fly in 4 program. You are expected to adhere to the same policies as students attending Main Campus.

Japan to Rome Entry Year

Students attending the Japan to Rome Entry Year (JREY) program complete their first year at the Rome campus in Italy, and then transfer to Temple’s campus in the heart of Tokyo to complete their degree. If you are attending the JREY program, you are eligible to file the FAFSA and receive federal need-based aid. For merit considerations, please contact the TU-J Admissions office.

Inter-University Transfer (IUT) Students

Students who are admitted to an entry program but decide to remain on their entry campus (or transfer to one outside of their program) may do so through inter-university transfer. Contact the admissions office of the campus you are on - Tokyo, Rome, or Philadelphia - to discuss the process. Transferring campuses and leaving the entry year program may result in a reevaluation of your financial aid and scholarship eligibility.
