Financial Aid Deadlines

FAFSA Priority Deadline

The FAFSA priority filing deadline is February 1 for all undergraduate students (graduate students are encouraged to file early, too!). The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be completed and received by the Federal Processing Center by this date to be considered filed on time. Institutional grants, such as the Temple Unviersity Grant, Fly in 4 Grant, and Temple Promise grant all require the FAFSA to be submitted by this date.

There is a reference on the FAFSA/Renewal Application to "State Aid Deadlines." These dates are when the FAFSA must be filed to be considered for aid from your home state. It is NOT the financial aid application deadline at Temple University.

The last day to submit a 2026-27 FAFSA for Fall 2026 is November 30, 2026. The last day to submit a 2026-27 for Spring 2027 is April 19, 2027.

End of Semester Processing

There are federal rules that limit our ability to process aid towards the end of the semester. We cannot reinstate a federal loan once the term in question is over. Please consult the academic calendar for the last day of classes, which is the last day we can reinstate loan funds for that semester.

Professional Judgment Appeals (Cost of Attendance, Satisfactory Academic Progress, Special Circumstances, and Unusual Circumstances) also have dates by which we can no longer accept appeals and complete a review. Please refer to those specific pages for information on those dates.

Late submission of loan requests, loan applications, and appeals are not guaranteed to be reviewed, and are not guaranteed to result in aid. We strongly recommend submitting any and all requests as early in the semester as possible.

Federal Loans

There are federally-imposed limits as to when we can process loans.We begin processing loans prior to the start of term, but we cannot process them after the end of term. Loan forms submitted after the priority deadline will be reviewed, but we cannot guarantee they will be processed if additional information is needed. Loan forms submitted after the final deadline will not be processed. Loan applications submitted after the final deadline will not be processed.

Fall 2026:

  • Priority deadline to submit a loan change form: November 20, 2026
  • Final deadline to submit a loan change form: November 30, 2026
  • Last day to submit a Parent PLUS loan application: November 30, 2026
  • Last day to accept a federal subsidized and/or unsubsidized loan: December 7, 2026

Spring 2027:

  • Priority deadline to submit a loan change form: April 5, 2027
  • Final deadline to submit a loan change form: April 15, 2027
  • Last day to submit a Parent PLUS loan application: April 15, 2027
  • Last day to accept a federal subsidized and/or unsubsidized loan: April 26, 2027

Federal Verification

Federal rules permit students to complete their federal verification up to 120 days after the last day of their enrollment. However, we cannot create federal loan records after the deadlines outlined above, so we do not recommend waiting until your enrollment ends to submit your verification. Please also note that if you withdrawal from the semester prior to the end of the term, your 120 day period begins with the date of your withdrawal. Additionally, institutional aid eligibility is not guaranteed the longer you wait to submit your verification. Early submission is the best option.

Fall 2026:

  • Last day to submit federal verification and receive federal loans (if eligible): November 30, 2026
  • Absolute last day to submit federal verification for any aid consideration: April 26, 2027

Spring 2027:

  • Last day to submit federal verification and receive federal loans (if eligible): April 22, 2027
  • Absolute last day to submit federal verification for any aid consideration: August 24, 2027

Other Documentation Affecting Eligibility

Temple University may require additional documentation to confirm your eligibility. This could be to confirm your citizenship or immigration status, dependency status, or financial details on the FAFSA. 

Fall 2026:
