Eligibility

• To be considered for an academic undergraduate scholarship, submit a complete undergraduate admission application by the Feb. 1 deadline. Late applicants might be considered for an academic scholarship based on fund availability. 
• For scholarship purposes, a first-year applicant is defined as a current high school student who will graduate prior to the start of the fall semester and will not earn any college credits after graduation.
• The nonrefundable undergraduate tuition deposit must be submitted by May 1 in order to secure a scholarship. A deposit made later will cancel the scholarship.
• Academic merit scholarships for undergraduate students are limited to eight consecutive undergraduate semesters of full-time enrollment. The scholarship is guaranteed for the first four consecutive undergraduate semesters, at the end of which a minimum cumulative GPA must be achieved and maintained in order to renew the scholarship annually. Merit scholarships are designated for undergraduate tuition only. Specific details will be provided in the student’s undergraduate scholarship notification letter from the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Information on the renewal criteria can be found in the Policies section of this website. 
• Temple University academic merit undergraduate scholarships are tuition only. 

Amount

Academic scholarships for undergraduate students range from $3,000 to $10,000 for Pennsylvania residents, and $10,000 to $20,000 for non-Pennslvania residents and internationals tudents. The availability of funding and the size, quality and characteristics of the overall applicant pool will determine the number and the value of academic scholarships awarded.

Application/Selection

No separate application required. Recipients are selected by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. 

Eligibility

U.S. citizens who

• are high school graduates (or equivalent);
• can pass the physical examination for participation in ROTC;
• possess at least a 2.5 grade-point average and
• have an 1100 on the SAT are eligible.

Amount

Tuition scholarships are for $9,000, $15,000 or full tuition, plus an annual stipend of $3,000 and $255 per semester for books for two-year (sophomores), three-year (first-year) or four-year (for entering students) scholarships. Four-year scholarship winners are also eligible to receive a $2,500 payment for room and board. Air Force ROTC tuition scholarship, Temple University academic merit scholarships and tuition remission funding (and/or any other tuition restricted funding) combined cannot exceed the total cost of tuition per term. 

Application/Selection

Students interest in four-year awards must apply by Dec. 1 of the year before they intend to enter the university. Applicants will be interviewed and winners will be notified by June 1.

Two- and three-year scholarship applicants can apply beginning in January, with notifications sent in May.

Eligibility

U.S. citizens who

• are full-time Temple University students;
• can pass the physical examination for participation in ROTC; 
• have at least a 2.5 cumulative grade point average; and
• excel at an Army Physical Fitness Test consisting of push-ups, sit-ups and a two-mile run for time.

Amount

Full tuition and fees scholarships (resident or nonresident rate) plus a monthly stipend ranging from $300 for first-year students to $500 for seniors. Additionally, there is an allowance of $1,200 per year for books. The ROTC tuition scholarship, Temple University academic merit scholarships and tuition remission funding (and/or any other tuition-restricted funding) combined cannot exceed the total cost of tuition per term.

• The university and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) determine the requirements and standards.

Application/Selection

The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics identifies and recruits students and selects scholarship recipients from among those who are admissible to the university.

Eligibility

• FAFSA application on file as of Feb. 1 with indicated financial need (domestic students only)
  • International students do not file the FAFSA.
• Preference is given to students who are the first generation in their families to graduate from college/university. Additionally, preference will be given to students from the city of Philadelphia, though all students will be considered, including international students.
• Renewable for up to eight full-time semesters (criteria listed in recipient’s scholarship notification).

Application/Selection

• Applicant selection is handled by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. The scholarship is aimed at helping students cross the finish line toward graduation with less debt. Preference for the scholarship for incoming students will be given to students from the city of Philadelphia, though all students will be considered, including international students.

Selected scholarship recipients will be encouraged to consider supporting the Broad Street Finish Line Scholarship upon graduation and the launch of their professional careers to help sustain it for future generations of Temple students.

This scholarship is open to first-year undergraduate students who reside in the following zip codes in North Philadelphia and primarily attend public (district or charter) high schools in the city of Philadelphia.

Application/Selection

• Applicants are automatically considered for this scholarship by submitting a Common Application for first-year undergraduate admission by Nov. 1.
• No application fee is required, and students should submit their Common Application by choosing the fee waiver option.
• Students will initially be admitted to a dual enrollment program where up to 50 students will take a free Temple course in the spring of their senior year of high school. From those 50 students, 20–25 students will be selected to become Cecil B. Moore Scholars and attend a summer bridge program before enrolling as first-year students in the fall.
• All applicants must also complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by Feb. 1.

Eligibility

DC public and public charter high school graduates currently enrolled in a two-year or four-year college, university or vocational school are eligible to apply for the DC-CAP Last Dollar Award for up to $2,000 per year for up to five years. The awards are based on unmet need and are designed to close the financial needs gap between students’ resources, financial aid and the actual college expenses.

Eligibility

• Qualified students enrolled in any Temple school or college may become a member of one of the university’s four bands and be considered for scholarships.

4. Engage in community service and/or extracurricular activities at Temple.
5. Complete the FAFSA by Feb. 1 and include Temple’s school code 003371.
6. Qualify for admission.
7. Demonstrate financial need by having an expected family contribution (EFC) of 0–25000.
8. Contribute $5,000 per year to tuition, room and board.
9. Agree to participate in regular Maguire Scholars meetings and/or activities on campus in accordance with university requirement.
10. Funding renewal is based on continuous, full-time enrollment for up to four years; 3.0 cumulative annual GPA; engagement in community service and/or extracurricular activities at Temple; financial need as demonstrated from the FAFSA application’s determination of EFC of 0–25000; and meeting annual Feb. 1 FAFSA filing deadline.

The Maguire Foundation is committed to improving the quality of life for people through investing in education to improve opportunities for youth. Temple University is part of the Maguire Scholars network, which provides support for four years up to five students in the incoming first-year class. The scholarship amount available for this award annually can vary.

Application/Selection

The Maguire Foundation will provide scholarship support to students graduating from the Philadelphia area high schools, with a preference for students from these Maguire high school partners for four years of matriculation.

Maguire Scholars who are selected by Temple must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher each academic year. Students must also be an active participant in extracurricular activities and/or community service at Temple.

This scholarship is typically given to strong academic students who may not have been offered other merit scholarships during the admissions review process. It is not a supplemental award. Scholarships are renewable for up to four years with academic eligibility.

No separate application is required. Students must apply to Temple before March 1. Recipients are selected by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions based on credentials submitted with the application for admission. All interested candidates should include their certificate of completion with their application materials.

Eligibility

The Pittsburgh Promise Scholarship assists students from the Pittsburgh area. Eligible students are required to have been enrolled in a Pittsburgh public school or one of its charters since ninth grade. Scholarship funding may be used to assist with tuition and fees, housing, meals and/or books. 

Renewal criteria includes full-time enrollment (minimum 12 credits) and maintaining a 2.0 cumulative GPA.

Amount

Scholarship amounts vary and are determined by the organization.

Payment processing for eligible students: The Office of Student Financial Services is required to wait until after the 16-week semester drop/add deadline to begin semester invoicing for the scholarship funding. This means the semester scholarship funding will typically arrive well into the semester (fall semester scholarships normally arrive in mid-October, while spring semester scholarships normally arrive mid-March).

• Renewal criteria: Maintain a minimum cumulative college GPA of 3.0 and register and enroll as a full time student (30 credits per year) at either Temple’s Main Campus in Philadelphia, our campus in Ambler, Pennsylvania, or our first-year away program at Temple Rome. Continue to file and complete the annual FAFSA by Temple’s priority deadline each year and demonstrate financial need. RaiseMe scholarships are not available for students who matriculate at Temple University, Japan Campus.
• If a student graduates from Temple in three years, they may forfeit awards allocated for their final year. 

Amount

Annual micro-scholarship earnings: $500 to $5,000

• Students who reside in Pennsylvania can earn up to $10,000 over four years through the RaiseMe micro-scholarship program.
• Students who reside outside Pennsylvania (out-of-state students) can earn up to $20,000 over four years.

Application/Selection

• If you are accepted and choose to attend Temple, the micro-scholarship earnings will automatically be included in your financial aid summary as institutional scholarships and grants. The funding amount will be greater or equal to your annual micro-scholarship earnings.
  • For example, all Temple University academic merit scholarships and school/college funding are included as institutional scholarships. Institutional grant funding includes the Temple grant, Fly in 4 and all named donor-provided scholarships.

Scholarships are renewable for up to four continuous years for first-year students and three continuous years for transfer students while maintaining a cumulative 3.0 grade-point average and full-time enrollment (at least 12 credits). Students not meeting the annual requirements are subject to losing their scholarship.
